Two-Day Course - Offered First and Fourth Weekends of the Month

 

Join us for KDA's Long Range Intro Series, a comprehensive two-day course designed to build your confidence and skill with a rifle. This course is held at the renowned Rifle Ranch in Graham, Alabama, an elite training facility capable of stretching your shooting experience to an impressive 1,000 yards. Whether you're a beginner or looking to sharpen your fundamentals, our experienced instructors will guide you through essential techniques in a safe and supportive environment.

 

Long Range Rifle Fundamentals - is designed to introduce students to the foundational concepts of long-range shooting, focusing on the key factors that influence accuracy and precision. Through a blend of classroom instruction and practical range time, students will gain a deeper understanding of ballistics, optics, and how to set up their rifle system for success at various distances.

Day One, Classroom (1 ½ - 2 hours): By the end of this course, you will:

  • Understand the importance of distance, elevation, and azimuth, and how these factors impact the trajectory of your shots.

  • Learn how environmental factors such as wind, temperature, barometric pressure, and the Coriolis effect (significant only beyond 1000 yards) influence shots at longer distances.

  • Gain knowledge about optics, including the differences between MIL vs. MOA reticles and adjustments.

  • Understand various types of ammunition used in long-range shooting, and how they affect your performance.

  • Learn how to choose the right tools for the job, including matching your rifle system, ammunition, and optics for specific purposes (defense, hunting, competition, long-range). This covers rifle types like bolt action and semi-auto (AR).

  • Gear Demonstration: Overview of essential long-range shooting gear and equipment setup.

 

Day Two, Range Time All day (0900-0900):

Setting Zero: Achieve a group size of under 1 inch at 100 yards.

Qualification at Distance:

This course is ideal for those looking to enhance their long-range shooting skills and ensure their gear and techniques are dialed in for accuracy.
